The 4th Korea-Iran Cooperation Forum: New Opportunities and Challenges for Cooperation between Korea and Iran in the Post-Sanctions Era
On May 29th of 2016, KIEP jointly organized 'The 4th Korea-Iran Cooperation Forum' under the title of "New Opportunities and Challenges for Cooperation between Korea and Iran in the Post-Sanctions Era" with the Asan Institute for Policy Studies and the Institute for Trade Studies and Research(ITSR) at the ITSR, Tehran, Iran. The forum aimed at discussing opportunities and challenges for Iran’s economy in the post-sanctions era and suggesting policy proposals expand bilateral investment and economic cooperation.
The forum began with ITSR President Dr. Mohammad Reza RAZAVI’s opening remarks, followed by welcoming remarks by Dr. Jae Young LEE, KIEP Vice President, and a congratulatory speech by H.E. Mr. Seung-ho KIM, Korean Ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The forum was divided into three sessions: "Iran’s Economic Development in the Post-Sanctions Era", "Towards Economic and Strategic Cooperation between Iran and Korea", and "New Opportunities and Challenges for Economic and Cultural Cooperation."
In the first session, Dr. Kwon Hyung LEE, Head of the Middle East and Africa Team participated as a discussant for a presentation titled "New Opportunities for Upstream & Downstream Partnership in the I.R. IRAN." In the third session, Vice President Dr. Jae Young LEE moderated and Dr. Hyuntai LEE, Research Fellow of China Team gave a presentation titled "OBOR, AIIB and Economic Cooperation between Iran, Korea, and China." The signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between KIEP and ITSR was held during 'The 4th Korea-Iran Cooperation Forum.'
